Ekonda Cuff Currency

Large, heavy, copper alloy leg bands were used as a form of currency for important transactions, including purchasing a bride!  These currencies were sand-cast in the earth and while the metal was still malleable, they were wrapped over a log to make the cylindrical shape. Wealthier women wore these leg bands and used rolls of plant fiber to protect their skin from rubbing.
